Choose a self-guided walk from the Nature Agency's map and observe the deer without approaching or feeding them.
Let observation shape the walk
Use the Nature Agency’s visitor map to select paths that suit your group. Open grassland, old trees and the historic hunting landscape make the outing interesting even when animals are not immediately visible.
Pause where you can observe without blocking a path or changing the animals’ behaviour. There is no guaranteed wildlife encounter and no need to follow a herd to make the walk worthwhile.
Keep the deer wild
The agency asks visitors to keep their distance and never feed the deer. Keep dogs on a short lead and give animals additional room when they are agitated or displaying to one another.
A photograph is not a reason to approach, surround or pursue wildlife. If animals occupy the path you intended to use, wait at a distance or choose another route.
Plan your own outing
This is a free, self-guided park walk. No fixed route length, difficulty grade or duration is assigned; choose those from the current official map and your group’s needs.
Check access notices and relevant surface information before setting out. The activity does not include building entry, a carriage ride, a guide or admission to a separate attraction.
