Overview

Galgberget is a wooded hill north of central Halmstad. Beech and mixed forest, exercise trails, picnic areas, viewpoints, and cultural attractions make it one of the city's most useful outdoor areas. The elevation also connects the landscape with Halmstad's military history: forces once used the hill as a strategic position above the fortified town.

Visit Hallandsgården open-air museum to see historic buildings gathered from around Halland. The museum grounds and café are most active during the summer season.

Families can use the large woodland playground and other activity areas. Picnic places make it practical to stay for several hours.

Explore the historical setting. Galgberget's name recalls its former execution site, and the hill was also used during military attempts to control Halmstad.
