Clarion Hotel Post makes its former life as a post office part of the stay. The historic building and its modern extension give the hotel two architectural voices: substantial public rooms shaped by its postal past, and a taller addition crowned by an outdoor pool. Restaurants, treatments and space to linger make it a hotel where an afternoon indoors can be part of the holiday.
A post office with a second life
The old post office dates from 1925 and was designed by Ernst Torulf. Its conversion into a hotel opened in January 2012, joining the protected historic building to a new thirteen-storey wing. The contrast is particularly tangible at Norda, where the former postal hall has become a dining room with high ceilings and arched windows. Contemporary furnishings give the inherited spaces a different purpose without erasing their scale.
Two approaches to dinner
Norda brings American East Coast influences to ingredients from Sweden’s west coast. VRÅ takes another direction, using Japanese techniques with a seasonal emphasis on seafood and plant-based ingredients. Together they give a stay a culinary dimension beyond an ordinary hotel restaurant.
Time for the hotel itself
The heated rooftop pool offers open-air bathing throughout the year, while Skönhetsfabriken combines treatments with The Treat spa. These are separate paid experiences unless a booked package includes them; the gym is included for hotel guests. A swim, a treatment and dinner in the old postal hall offer distinct ways to enjoy the building’s new life.

Swim on the roof
The outdoor pool on the thirteenth floor is heated throughout the year, with broad views across Gothenburg. It offers a different experience from the indoor spa: choose it for an open-air swim and time on the roof terrace. Pool access costs extra unless included in your package. Check the current admission arrangements before booking; the hotel lists separate swimming hours for children.
Choose a spa visit or a treatment
Skönhetsfabriken offers massages, facials, a hair salon and The Treat relaxation experience, which includes a warm bath, sauna and cold shower. The Treat is restricted to guests aged 18 and over, including when accompanied by an adult. Decide whether you want spa admission, a treatment or both, and check exactly what your reservation includes rather than assuming one booking covers every facility.
The gym is included for hotel guests and has a minimum age of 16. Group classes and personal training are separate options; confirm availability and any charges when arranging your visit.
Make dinner part of the stay
Choose Norda for a meal in the former postal hall, where the architecture is part of the experience. Its cooking combines American influences with Swedish west-coast ingredients. Check the current menu and reserve a table for the service you want.
VRÅ focuses on seafood and plant-based ingredients, using techniques drawn from Japan. Its menu changes with season and supply, so plan around the current offering rather than a particular dish. Sake, Japanese teas and non-alcoholic drinks made partly with kitchen surplus add further choices to the meal. Consult the restaurant’s current menu and booking information before making plans.
For a more casual pause, the hotel’s Living Room lobby bar serves coffee, snacks and drinks. It provides an option for a short stop between a swim, a treatment and an evening reservation.
