Amager Beach Park

Amager Strandpark offers more than a stretch of sand. A lagoon, beach island and network of paths create different ways to spend an unhurried outdoor day: walking, watching water sports, swimming at an appropriate bathing area or bringing a picnic and making few other plans.

Its deliberately designed landscape gives the park a different character from an undeveloped coast. Beach stations, paved paths and recreation facilities support a place used for exercise as much as for lying on the beach.

Choose your own pace

The paths suit a stroll or a run, while beach volleyball, parkour and exercise facilities make a more energetic visit possible. You do not need to organise a full programme to enjoy the park; watching the changing activity on the water can be enough.

The municipality identifies opportunities for kayak, canoe and stand-up paddleboard rental. Participation depends on the provider’s operation and the restrictions for each water area, so treat a rental as a separate arrangement rather than an assumed beach facility.

Swimming with useful facilities

The beach stations provide toilets, and the municipality documents paved connections, accessible toilets and specific bathing aids. These are useful facilities, but they do not mean that every stretch of sand offers the same access.

Check bathing-water warnings and the published lifeguard arrangements before entering the water. With those preparations made, the park offers a generous change of pace: room to walk, sit and give an outdoor afternoon its own shape.
