Söderåsen National Park

Söderåsen National Park is a landscape to read on foot, through changes in the ground and the shape of the forest. Beech woodland, rocky slopes and running water give each walk a different emphasis. Some visitors come for the outlooks; others are drawn to the more enclosed experience of a valley path. The contrast is part of the appeal, and a day here does not need to be built around reaching every viewpoint.

Skäralidsdalen gives the park much of its visual character, with wooded slopes and exposed rock framing the valley. Kopparhatten offers a different way of seeing that terrain, turning individual paths and trees into a wider landscape. Nackarpsdalen and Odensjön provide another focus for a visit. Choosing one area and taking time with it can be more rewarding than trying to cover the entire park. The variety asks for attention to terrain as well as scenery, making route choice an important part of the experience.

A forest protected for the future

Established in 2001, the national park preserves deciduous woodland and a landscape of deep valleys. Beech is prominent, with oak, alder and birch also represented. Conservation gives the forest a purpose beyond its value as a walking destination.

Different ways to look

Views from the heights and walks through the valleys reveal different sides of Söderåsen. Naturum's interpretation offers another starting point for understanding the landscape. Let the forest set the pace: an outlook, a stretch of woodland and time to notice running water can be enough for a full and satisfying visit.
