Spritan

Spritan

Just a 10-minute drive from the heart of Helsingborg, the restored Spritan in Ödåkra is one of northwestern Skåne's most distinctive destinations. The historic complex was built for Helsingborgs Spritförädlings AB and became popularly known as Spritan. Ödåkra Taffel Aquavit was first produced here in 1899. Production moved elsewhere after the factory closed in the late 1970s, and the brand was eventually discontinued after Pernod Ricard acquired Vin & Sprit in 2008.

A group with family ties to factory founder Johan Isaac Nelson has since recreated the aquavit from original production records found with help from Spritmuseum. Because of a naming conflict, the revived drink is called J.I. Nelson Taffel Aquavit and is produced at Lottenlund Estate near Allerum. This modern revival adds another chapter to Spritan's industrial history.

The former factory complex has been transformed into a meeting place where history, culture, food and shopping come together. Visitors can wander through the atmospheric industrial buildings, browse independent boutiques, discover local art galleries, enjoy a coffee or leisurely lunch, and relax in one of the area's restaurants. Wellness studios, specialty shops and seasonal events add to the experience.

Throughout the year, Spritan hosts markets, festivals, concerts and family-friendly events that attract both locals and visitors. Its blend of preserved industrial architecture and contemporary businesses makes it a worthwhile short trip from Helsingborg. The site is easily reached by car or public transport.
