At Kiviks Musteri, apples take center stage as fruit, drinks, and stories. A visit might include a stroll among the orchards, time at the Apple House, and something to eat at Kärnhuset. For anyone curious about Swedish apple juice and cider, it offers a hands-on introduction to the craft behind the bottles.
From orchard to cider mill
The family business began in 1888, when Henric Åkesson planted his first apple trees. In 1935, his son Ivar opened a cider mill to turn the fruit into apple juice. The Apple House, which opened in 1996, brings the history of apple growing together with knowledge about apples and how they are processed.
Apple trees and flavors to discover
The visitor gardens showcase different apple varieties, espaliered trees, and older trees alongside modern cultivation. At the Cidery Shop, you can choose from apple juice, cider, and other drinks. Kärnhuset serves meals and fika, along with drinks from the cider mill, including both alcohol-free options and alcoholic cider.
Tastings, talks, and courses offer a chance to delve deeper when they are on the program. Check current opening hours and events before your trip, as different parts of the attraction may have different hours.
It is the combination of the trees, the family history, and the flavors that makes this visit worth taking your time over.
