Taste your way around Skåne – from Smörtaxen to Österlen
Let food guide your route through Skåne. This road trip begins with a full evening in Landskrona, followed by pasta, baking and apple growing on Österlen. Dinner and an overnight stay at Talldungen lead into a final chocolate stop in Skåne-Tranås. Four days and three nights leave room for both substantial dinners and smaller tasting stops.
Day 1 – Landskrona and Smörtaxen
Begin in Landskrona and leave the car at your accommodation for the evening. Smörtaxen offers a playful dinner with loud music and a set menu. Allow plenty of time for the evening and book a table before choosing your travel dates. Spend the first night in Landskrona.
Day 2 – Pasta, bread and a night in Ystad
Continue by car to the next stops. At Pastafabriken i Ingelstorp, pasta is made with Swedish flour and local ingredients shape the restaurant’s cooking. Choose a meal or a deli visit to suit the day’s opening hours.
At Olof Viktors, stop for coffee and cake or buy bread and pastries to take away. The traditional four-sided farmstead houses a bakery, patisserie, shop and café, with a wood-fired stone oven central to the craft. Arrange the two stops to suit service times, then spend the night in Ystad.
Day 3 – Apples in Kivik and dinner at Talldungen
Drive on to Kiviks Musteri. Its shop and visitor gardens offer a producer’s perspective on the trip, with an opportunity to buy apple juice to take home.
Continue to Talldungen Gårdshotell for the trip’s second main dinner. Rustic cooking with southern European influences meets locally sourced ingredients. Book both dinner and a room, and spend the third night here.
Day 4 – A sweet finale
On the return journey, visit Österlenchoklad / Svenska Kakao. The café and factory shop in the old village school provide one last taste of Österlen, with chocolate to take home. Afterwards, return to Landskrona.
An option for 2027
Hörte Brygga suits the trip’s focus on local ingredients. According to the business’s website, its long lunch is taking a break during 2026 and is due to return in 2027. Consider it as an alternative on the second day once opening and service have been confirmed.

This suggested trip takes four days and three nights: one night in Landskrona, one in Ystad and one at Talldungen in Brösarp. Accommodation and restaurant visits must be booked separately. No bookings are included.
Start by finding opening days and available tables at Smörtaxen and Talldungen. Smörtaxen’s autumn 2026 format is a full evening lasting at least 4.5 hours. Discuss dietary requirements directly with each business before booking.
When checked on 13 October 2026, Pastafabriken’s website stated that the business was closed for the season. The route is therefore a planning suggestion for a period when all the main stops are open, rather than a confirmed programme for that particular week. Also check opening hours for Olof Viktors, Kiviks Musteri and Österlenchoklad.
